Senior Scientist - Medical Devices in Leicestershire

Senior Scientist – Medical Devices

Qualified and experienced scientist with a background in medical devices required by leading global healthcare company to work as part of a team developing new drug delivery devices for inhalation pharmaceutical products. This is a key role within the group to help deliver development of new devices and scale-up to manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities

Lead key activities for the development and scale up of drug delivery devices, and lead method development, equipment procurement and qualification to support these activities.

Provide drug delivery device expertise to the product development project team.

Generate laboratory, quality and regulatory documentation as required.

Transfer laboratory scale processes to 3rd party manufacturers and internal operations groups.

Ensure compliance of work with appropriate guidelines and regulations including GLP and cGMP.

Support manufacturing processes of drug delivery devices within the company and at 3rd party manufacturers.

Work positively with customers and suppliers.

Supervise junior members of staff as required.

Skills and Experience

Degree in science or engineering with relevant significant experience working with medical devices development.

Understanding of component design and manufacture for drug delivery devices. Experience of electronic and software development and testing.

Working knowledge of Medical Device Directive and Design Controls including ISO13485 and 21 CFR 820.

Analysis and reporting of scientific data.

Full knowledge and understanding of GLP and GMP requirements.

Understands the interaction between internal operations, external vendors and R&D.

Able to initiate improvements and generate ideas and provide a logical and methodical approach to product development activities.

Excellent communication skills and able to communicate with a range of people, internally and externally.

Train R&D personnel effectively on subjects within their own areas of responsibility.

Understanding of the importance of intellectual property and ensuring appropriate controls are maintained.
