Lead Development Analyst – LC-MS, HPLC

Our client is a global leader in the technology sector. They are seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to join their team based in Leicestershire responsible for the testing and development of new pharmaceutical products.

In this role you will lead the development of analytical methods that will be used for the testing of pharmaceutical products, mainly inhalation products. This will include developing new methods 'from scratch' without supporting documentation or literature. The main technique will be LC and LC-MS with some use of HPLC. The successful candidate will also be required to have knowledge of organic chemistry and provide full contribution to the development of new methods for stability testing.

This position is very hands-on and around 70% of the time will be spent at the bench.

Candidate

Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry, ideally with an MSc or PhD.

Extensive experience working in a method development role in the pharmaceutical industry.

Expert knowledge in the theoretical aspects of analytical method development with emphasis on development of LC & HPLC methods and significant practical experience of the execution of method development and method validation.

Organic chemistry knowledge and an understanding of degradation pathways of organic molecules.

Experience of a wide range of instrumental analysis techniques, as well as practical experience of wet chemistry.

Experienced in the characterisation of organic impurities, with emphasis on utilising LC-MS methods.

Full understanding of MHRA, FDA and ICH guidelines for method validation.

Experience of working to GMP.

Strong problem solving ability and able to work methodically and pay meticulous attention to detail.

Broad knowledge of current pharmaceutical industry practices including Quality and Regulatory requirements.
