Forensic Scientist - DNA and Fingerprints

Biometric Reporting Officer

Role:

The Biometric Reporting Officer will be responsible for managing and responding to Biometric Requests for Information and for the reporting of Biometric Matches (DNA and Fingerprints) to a range of stakeholders in order to support operations and provide actionable intelligence for the wider community.

The individual will be expected to deliver analytical output to the exploitation process, inform and develop standard procedures for forensic and biometric reporting, and make recommendations for the ongoing development of the capability.

To construct intelligence reporting, converting biometric data (DNA and Fingerprints) from a range of formats into an analytical product.

To conduct detailed analysis, interpretation and review of DNA and fingerprint information, using a variety of analytical tools and techniques.

To liaise with other team/group members, project teams and Subject Matter Expert (SMEs) across external organisations, in order to ensure the procedures, analytical products and outputs are fit for purpose.

To provide technical advice and review on all matters relating to biometric reporting and associated methodologies, tools and techniques.

Essential Experience:

The candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience of working in a forensic DNA environment.

SC Clearance.

A solid and proven background in biometric reporting, or experience of operational analysis project work, converting a range of data formats into an analytical product.

Knowledge and experience in one or more of forensic DNA and latent fingerprint intelligence / evidence, military systems, the operational situation, information and sources.

Good information management skills and IT skills including the use of key Microsoft products, Excel, Access and Sharepoint.

Desirable:

DV clearance.

Knowledge of other analytical tools and techniques, use of i2 analysts notebook.

The ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team - including the military and police
community.
